[/apane][apane title=”Did you bill my medical aid?”]All accounts are sent directly to the patient with a request that the account be settled directly with the laboratory within 30 days, prior to claiming from Medical Aid. In the event that the account remains unpaid, a copy will be sent to your medical Insurance after 60 days. This is to ensure that your account is received timeously by your Medical Insurance, and is not rejected because of late submission. Your Medical Insurance will then reimburse you. Your statement will indicate any payments received and the name of the Medical Insurance that JDW Pathology have on record. You should receive an Explanation of Benefits from your Medical Insurance that matches the total billed, adjustments and balance due that are listed on your statement.[/apane] [apane title=”Why did my Medical Aid not pay the full amount?”]Anatomical Pathology is a labour intensive medical specialty, using predominantly imported consumables and reagents. Each specimen is personally examined by a Specialist Pathologist, who issues your individual report. There are no computer generated reports. It is therefore not always possible to charge rates which will be reimbursed neither by all Medical Insurance companies nor by all options of specific Medical Insurance companies. For this reason, we prefer that the patient settles directly prior to claiming his portion from the Medical Insurance. In certain instances your Insurer will pay the laboratory their portion. In any event you are ultimately responsible for payment of your account, and should ensure that all details on your account are correct, before submitting the account to your Medical Insurer. JDW Pathology is a private pathology laboratory and our policy is to ensure that each patient is afforded the internationally accepted best level of care necessary to achieve accurate diagnosis and to ensure correct future treatment and prognosis. We believe in continuing innovation and implementation of the most up-to-date diagnostic modalities available.[/apane][apane title=”Who do I contact if my account has been referred to a collection agency?”]You should contact the collection agency: Bev Datnows Attorneys[/apane][apane title=”Test results?”]Results of tests are considered to be confidential and are available only to your doctor. The laboratory staff, including the pathologists, is not permitted to release results to patients or family members without the consent of the referring doctor.
